An Old Fashioned dress for a New Year

Probably the last post of the year..something from a little series I've been working on - here's a first glimpse. Also, it's almost New Years, and if I were going to a fancy party (and could make my own dresses) it'd be designed something like this.

and a cherry on top

Another holiday themed doodle - I embellished the coffee I had the other day just a little.
Rudolph's the cherry on top...but I wouldn't trust those chocolate sprinkles, if you know what I mean....

don't forget your hat and gloves

I know it's still only mid December, but the Holiday season is well upon us and I've been making some cards - so here's one for blogger-land. Just a little doodle to get us in that wintery spirit! I wish you all wonderful celebration times full of family, friends, and warmth (cuz damn it's getting chilly out there!) Best wishes for the new year!

Birthday Sweaters

Dear Nichole,
I know all about your irrational (and amazing!) obsession for sweaters,
so I drew a little ditty, for a girl so fun and pretty ;)
Happy Birthday!

vase

Did this a few months ago as I was overloading on some good ol textures fun!
It's cold and grey outside - have a nice floral bouquet!

oh baby!

So this is the end of Mermaid week - it was spectacularly fun! (most likely this won't be the last mermaid post you see here on this blog, but perhaps i'll take a tiny break, for a while..get back to dry land for a bit) Thanks for viewing and all the lovely comments throughout the week!!!

I draw cute, girly things sometimes (who are we kidding - most of the time!)
Here's a mermaid version.

do the ocean boogie

Mermaid post 4 was inspired by a Disney "sing along short" that I remember watching as a kid (we had taped the Little Mermaid on a VHS and before the movie there was this Disney singalong segment of a few musical numbers, which were all under-the-water themed. I think they did this with some other of the Disney classics..anyone remember such a thing?) ANYWAY...I absolutely adored the little mermaids - more like merchildren - in this animation, especially the little one dancing at the end, here's the CLIP (and you can skip to the end at 2:26, that's where she dances..on a bubble!)

mermaid week

So, I've decided to join in on this doodle adventure for what I recently discovered is being called "Mermaid Week".
Hopefully I can keep up with one (or more!) mermaid doodles each day - here's the first..she's more pensive than most mermaids. Check out my very talented roomie Nichole's mermaid week posts too!

when she was younger

I don't usually draw fan art..or superheros for that matter..but this year for Halloween I dressed up as She-Ra, Princess of Power as part of the awesome 80's cartoon trio of the show He-man with my kick-ass roomies (they were He-Man and Skeletor!!)...hand-made costumes and everything! So here's a little doodle..as I imagined She-Ra first finding out about her awesome sword of power..i don't think that's how the story actually happened (I never watched the tv show much) but we tried to be as screen accurate with the costumes as possible! Happy Halloween!

Dress-Up (& Down)

Went to Dr. Sketchy's for the first time..in Ottawa! It was really great to life draw again..and the costumes were fantastically themed: Marie Antoinette.

..and some people doodles of other fellow Dr. Sketchy goers.
drawing challenge: a non-conventional beheading
